Jim Roshan was born in Tehran, Iran and raised in Athens, Greece, moving to the United States at the age of twelve. Growing up in an airline family, he had the opportunity to travel the world which gave him an in-depth knowledge of different cultures at a very young age. Today, he is an avid outdoorsman and global explorer with a lot of adventure in his blood. He first became interested in photojournalism as an outlet for showcasing social awareness at his hometown newspaper back in high school in the early 1980’s.
With an extensive background in digital technology and on the leading edge of photojournalistic expression, Jim has an aggressive, yet conservative style, in his photographic work.
As an accredited photojournalist, he has covered thousands of stories for numerous local, national and international publications, including the Louisville Courier Journal, Reuters News Service, The Washington Post, Detroit News, LA Times, New York Times, Newsweek, GQ Magazine, Rolling Stone, Save the Children, Catholic Relief Services and the Associated Press along with corporate, commercial and event photography clients.
Jim uses the "correct" tools for the success of each image's purpose. He is equally comfortable with large format 8x10 view cameras or his digital cameras and digital imaging equipment. It really is a question of which techniques and equipment best meet the specific needs.
